Freddy performed at our casino (Northern Lights Casino). The first time I met him coming off the plane, before I could say anything, he said "I got some of that Viagra stuff, but the doctor said your too old for sex, I don't want it for sex, I am tired on pissing on my feet". Freddy told me that, even before he said hello. I love and miss Freddy.

FREDDY FENDER IS MY FAVORITE ARTIST. HE IS WONDERFUL. I SPENT A MONTH IN YOUR WONDERFUL TOWN SEVERAL YEARS AGO WITH MY YOUTH GROUP AND DID A VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL FOR THE LOCAL CHILDREN. IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. I HATED TO LEAVE. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE LYRICS TO SOME OF FREDDY'S SONGS. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Congratulations on the museum opening and dedication in October. As a drummer and band manager for Phoenix Band, I grew to know Freddy while touring with him in Europe. That was always a strong country music market for Freddy and still is even after his passing. I will always remember the back room joke sessions Freddy told with all the "Tex Mex" jokes. We laughed so hard, we cried...but now for a different reason.

Freddy,
Your music came from your soul. Your talent came from God. Your drive to become a musician (by cobbling broken guitars) is truely an inspiration. You are sincerely missed every day.
Sleep in peace, my friend.

Adios, Freddie - I just yesterday received my Texas Tornados DVD and - MAN - I haven't seen a performance like that since seeing the Stones before they "cleaned up." Freddie, you & Sir Doug will be sorely missed, but rest assured, Augie & Flaco are still carrying on the tradition. And thank you sort of retroactively for "Wasted Days" and "Teardrop" - I'm sorry I wasn't hip to Tex Mex when I was younger.

Freddy is one the Great Ones. He should be in the Country Hall of Fame--a shame. At least he has a Star in Hollywood, not too far from my home in Cali. I get crazy homesick for Barbacoa tacos, real flour tortillas and especially my great home state of Texas whenever I play his music. Before my next tear drop falls next time I play him, I bless him in Heaven with all my heart.

My heart still rejoices in the music of this great man. We rumba, we waltz, dance the rancheros and just reminisce. Freddy Fender and his music walked my whole young adult years, through my first true love to my present husband. His song lyrics mark the adventures of my life. I saw him in concert everytime I got the chance. Even had the opportunity to kiss his cheek and tell him I loved Him. My first date with my husband was to a concert at NMSU on the 4th of July. When he died, it was on my 11th wedding anniversary. I cried for a week straight, my children thought I was crazy! They just didn't understand. Christmas 2006 I took Baldamero Huerta CD to Mexico for Christmas and danced the week away, toasting my favorite. Today I'm working with His music "Close to my heart" cranked as loud as I can get away with....and today he's still my secret love! To God be the Glory for the things He has done for us. Thank you Lord for the beauty of this man, and for the music that lives on to bless our lives. To the Huerta Family I can only imagine how much you miss him, I pray that you have joy in remembering him. Con Carino...Siempre, Rita Jo

Lets be fair to Charlie Rich Jr.
He attributes everything to Freddy and considered it an honor to be in his band
He called himself Alan Rich for a while
so not to take advantage of his father's name. Charlie Jr. came to Freddy's funeral. Where were the other memebers of the band??? Charlie Jr Freddy but Charlie Jr made his name by his own hard work.
