My Mother had a couple (33 album) records of Freddy Fender. I could every song he did and love it! My Mom, Dad and I have talked several times about Freddy, of course everytime we hear his songs and just because we knew he couldn't have had it easy making it to the top, because of so many racial critics.
I am sad today to hear of his death, but I am happy that he is not suffering and in Gods hands now.
Blessings to his family and friends that knew him well,
A fan to a popular man

When George Jones sang "Who's Gonna Fill Thier Shoes" he was singing about you Freddie.
I know you are with God so I'm not sad, but I wish you hadn't gone so soon.

I remember growing up in Massachusetts in the 70's, listening to Freddy Fender's music. He had such a wonderful voice, and a great stage presence. He and his music will be sadly missed. My condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Freddie Fender. He was a fine man and really cared about his music, his family and his fans.
I had the chance to meet him a few times when he played the World Famous Palomino Club in the Valley back at the height of his carreer and at a few ACM Awards shows-What memorable times they were!
Hearfelt thoughts and prayers to the family. I know you will miss him very very much, but be strong in the knowledge that he is in a much better place and is singing with the Angel Band.
