I was very shocked to hear about the loss of Freddy Fender....
When Freddy had his Resturant and Theatre in Branson, Missouri my Father Jack Haden was a cook at his Resturant and was great friends with Freddy. I went to his show many times and one time I got way to close to Freddy and snapped a picture (with flash) and as I was walking back to my chair Freddy made his hand look like a gun and shot me. :) :) My favorite part of the show was his mareachie band comeing out playing thier hearts out walking through the isles in the theatre going up to the stage.
Freddy gave me a Limited Edition belt buckle with his name on it and I will keep it with me forever to remind me what a great singer/person Freddy was.
RIP Freddy.

MY dad (MANUEL GARCIA) laughed at me when I told him I had downloaded and paid (ITunes) for FREDDY FENDER'S Greatest HITS.He has all of FREDDY FENDER'S Albums on vinyl....I remember my (very shy) parents dancing to LAST TEAR DROP and BOUNCING around to "SHE'S ABOUT A MOVER".....I am finally at 34 getting it....and FREDDY FENDER ...has played a big role in that...to the "WASTED DAYS AND NIGHT THAT I WAS WITHOUT THAT KNOWLEDGE" I offer my deepest condolensences and THANKS...THIS CHICANA HAS FOUND HER WAY !!!

My regards to Freddie Fenders family. When I heard about his passing, I cried, I felt like my own uncle passed away! I grew up listing to his music through my parents, his music was alway played in our car, house, parties, etc..I attended 3 of his concerts in San Diego where he signed a CD for me. I play your CD every morning on my way to work. My favorite song "Heaven must have sent you". I love you Freddie, estas en mi corazon para siempre!!!

Freddy, in the airport waiting area so long ago, I saw the triangle with the circle around on a chain on your neck. I knew you meant to say, "Keep Coming Back". I have and I know you did, too. To those of us in AA and NA, you were an inspiration. Remember all of us at that "Great Meeting in the Sky"...and keep coming back, mi hermano.

Our love and prayers go to Freddy's family. We became instant fans when we first heard Freddy's music, "back in the days". We have an extensive collection of Freddy's music, including the CDs he warmly and graciously autographed for us during his concert in Northern California, the Summer of '05.
Freddy will be sorely missed but will remain with us, thanks to his legacy of music.
God Bless Freddy's Family.

My respects to Freddy's familia. I remember seeing him in El Jardin a place where I used to hang out by La Resaca and listening to his rolas, I myself am from San Benito. They say that angels cannot be seen but what about a star in heaven, that will be you Freddy Fender.
Sincerely,
Un Homeboy from the projects
