I remember Freddie Fender from many years ago, thru my dad who was from San Benito, Texas, El Jardin..... He came out to Joliet, IL. once and sang at my uncle Jose's Club, called the "Spanish/America" Club, everyone was in awe.... Freddie knew my dad & my family, George Rodrigues Sr. for many years.. He brought alot of happy singing and dancing thru out all the years, and I felt he was so down to earth, he was like one of us..... I am proud to say I knew this GREAT TEX/MEX COUNTRY singer,,,,, the angels will be harnonizing with him..... they have a great addition....

Freddys music is great I recently just before his passing started to listen to it the music is wonderful I hope the best for his family. RIP freddy fender

As a fellow musician and singer I would occasionally cross paths with Freddy.I sing and play bluegrass Gospel and would open or close at places Freddy would play.I always treated me with respect and courtesy.I will certainly miss him and his wonderul singing.

I grew up in the music industry, my family had record shops in Dallas and Houston. Mr. Freddy Fender was big influence in my life then as a teenager and even now as a 41 year old man. You will be missed, most regards to you and your family. God Bless

I was only about 6 or 7 years old when I heard 'When the last tear drop falls' - sang in some english and spanish, my mom played it. I love that song, but didn't know who sang it until they announced your passing on TV. Your music will last forever in people's hearts. My condolences to your family and God bless.

I do not have a large collection of Freddy's music, but I always enjoyed hearing him on the radio. When I bought my Mexican Fender Telecaster a few years ago, I named it 'Freddy', because it, too has a wonderful, soulful voice, and that indescribable beauty that is seen with more than the eyes.

I would like to thank you and your family for the music you left behind. i remember growing up and hearing my uncle singing your music . it brings back good memories.

I fondly remember the music, and meeting Freddy in person at the New Mexico state fair in 1979/80. An all around nice guy ! Memories........

My father played the Steel Guitar for Freddy during his Pittsburgh, PA. stop over at The Twin Coaches while on tour supporting his hit, "Before The Last Teardrop Falls" back in the '70's. They hit it off together and Freddy was quickly referring to my father as "brother". This is where I met the man who would become a legend, backstage, doing two shows a night at a country music venue in western Pennsylvania. Unfortunatley, my father did not continue on tour with Freddy, despite Freddy's persistence, but they did stay in touch for a little while thereafter.

Later in life, and every now and then, I would see Freddy's name on a marquee somewhere, or see him featured in a magazine or on television, and I would just smile and flash back to that magical night that I met him, where I watched him perform from the side of the stage, flawlessly. I, of course, have pictures of him and I together as well as an autographed 8 x 10 from those performances...which I will cherish.

Freddy was one of the great ones. He far outlasted many artists of his time and it was very obvious that he enjoyed what he was doing. He will be greatly missed by everyone that not only knew him persnoally, but also by those that met him briefly or by those that were touched by his music.

Vangie: In Mexico we will always say that altought Freddy No esta aqui, no esta aqui, we'll always dance Acapulco Rock until the next tear drop falls, and that listening his music will light and fill our wasted days and nights up.

I had A tape writion with Freddy Fender from An old LP record Album that no longer was used that was also had saved on 90 minute Irish tape and also had A very best of Freddy Fender The Millennium Collection on CD and that I was continue to get more of his CDs and that I feel sorry for him that he died of Cancer and that he was a good singer and a writer if anyone wants to mail me please use my Adress 41 pine Street Selden NY 11784 or Call me 696-5343 at

i prayed and signed da book here before and Freddy has become part of a wonderful testimony. i just came in today because i miss him, and i never met him. but praise the lord, maybe i will some day some. god bless the family and friends of this wonderful man,
