Like Sonia A, I grew up listening to Freddy Fender's songs as everyone was drunk but his songs never reminded me of bad memories, only of a most awesome and distinct voice that will live on forever no matter where the world ends up! God Bless and Keep Freddy Fender! To his family and friends, your lives were only blessed and enriched for a brief moment and you are better for having him in your lives. As it is said, "God only takes the Best!" Rest in Peace

The world has lost a wonderful man. We shall All Miss You Freddy. But, Your Music will live On and On. For that, We Thank You!

My heartfelt condolenses to the Huerta family for as I was told by my mother we were 2nd or 3rd degree cousins,My mother's maiden name was Alvina Cano Cuevas and so the story goes Valdemar's mother and mine were cousins As I was told he was born in Uvalde or Carrizo Springs Texas, I was born in Runge Texas.
The first song I remember, and I could be wrong, sung by Freddie was (Since I Met You Baby) around the late 50's. I met Freddie after his jail time in Santa Rosa Texas at Bea's bar in the Rio grande valley, I think he was going to sing at La Villita dance hall in San Benito Texas.
That made my day and the rest of my life since I knew a famous relative.
Without knowing Freddie was kin on a trip from southern Ca. to Portland Oregon my youngest daughter said daddy I want to listen to freddie.s songs all the way to Portland.

i send many condolances to your family It is sad to see a great singer pass away i grew up listening to his music
when i was a child i remember wasted days and wasted nights when it first came out . it was played on the local country station in west virginia. i think the stations call letters was "wjls"

we lost a great man but sure that he will live in our hearts forever.

I regret not discovering and listening to freddy sooner. I had tickets to his fiesta day concert at the colorado state fair and was saddend when i heard that he had to cancel. This is truly a huge loss to the music world but a big gain to heaven. God bless the family and thank you for the wonderful memories

My condolenses to Freddy's Familia. I open two shows here in San Diego for Freddy and it was Freddy that encouraged me to record my first CD. and now I am working on my second. Thank you Freddy,for your kind and encouraging words, You will be geatly missed by us and your Family . God Bless you and may God strengthen your family thru these dificult days.

I would like to extend my sympathies to the family and bring a little hope to you. We have comfort in the Bible, the time will come when death will be no more. Rev 21:4 says "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more"... Isa 33:24 says "And no resident will say I am sick"... John 5:28,29 says "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice"...
