My sincerest condolences to the family, friends and loyal fans of one of the Greatest Voices to come out of Texas. I knew it would happen eventually, but the pain still hits you. For as long as i've been alive, there's been a Freddy Fender song playing... he may have passed on, but his legend will forever live on. God Bless you, Freddy... we'll miss you.

To the family of Freddy Fender. We had the pleasure of meeting Frddy when he performed at the Nugget rib cookoff in Sparks, after his concert. Although we are not related in blood, we are in spirit. His music and spirit will live on forever, and you will join him some day in heaven. On behalf of the Worthen, Hoover, Gonzalez, Barajas & White families of Corpus Christi, and the Ahkolik, Kelso & D'elena families of Dallas, I offer our condolences, and prayers.
Vaya con Dios nuestro hermano y amigo

I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of Freddy Fender. I grew up in Corpus and it gave me a great sense of pride and pleasure to say that I lived in the same town as Freddy. I enjoyed seeing Freddy driving around in his old car or see him in town with his belt buckle that read Freddy. He was a very friendly fellow. I loved his songs and can remember my parents playing his songs on the record player and them teaching me to how to dance to them. His music had a great sound and I will miss both.

My Condolences, Love and Respect to Baldemar's family, my prayers are with you in this difficult time. "Freddy Fender" has been one of my hero's for a very long time and I will miss him very much. I have records of his early releases and this is one West Coast white boy who has loved this Tex-Mex and his music. Vaya Con Dios my friend.
