Freddy Fender was a huge inspiration to me in my life as an entertainer. I began singing at the age of 6. Performed live for first time at age 10 performing a tribute to Elvis Presley. Freddy was the second entertainer I ever paid tribute to in front of a live audience. I will miss this legend and wonderful entertainer. God bless. Kevin Curtis

I am so very proud to be family to Freddy. He and my dad(Jesus L. Barrientes his cousin) grew up together in San Benito. I have fond memories of my cousin, that i only met once here in Indiana at a county fair. My dad would always play his music(and my dad had all his records)when either doing work around the house or listening for his songs on the radio. My parents would always go to his concerts when he came to the Chicago area. He was always gonna come to the house to visit, but the busy road never aloud him Freddy we will always miss you dearly! And to my Huerta familia,we may have lost his presence but he will always be in our hearts and minds. He touched a lot of peoples lives, including mine and that is what i am so very proud of too! Via con dios-Freddy and god bless to my familia!

Although I live in New England now, I listen to your songs, Freddy, and they take me right back to my hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas: Ocean drive and the bayfront, Padre Island, late nights with friends and family. I'll forever treasure your memory and your wonderful music, which erases the miles between here and there, and time itself. God Bless you, Brother.

Sharing a moment. I received a phone call this morning about the news. I was sad for a moment, but I have been reading the news updates and realized what was happening. The sadness vanished as I looked back at my life and realized I was a Freddy Fender groupie for 33 years and proud to be one. I seen Freddy perform live at the county fairs and Reno, Freddy was surely a singing peace of heaven, then I had the pleasure of meeting Freddy a couple of years ago three times. I called it the Freddie Triangle, that summer I saw him perform in Santa Clara, Reno, then Lodi. I am proud of you Freddy and the Huerta family for sharing your gift with us your millions of fans "Via Con Dios Mi Freddie" Say hello to my brother, brother.
