Via con Dios, Mr. Fender. You were a real pioneer and a person who broke down barriers for others who have come after you. I remember playing your songs in my parents' band when I was in High School. God Bless you.

I feel greatly saddened by the death of Freddy Fender. He was one of my all time favorite musicians. Wasted Days and Wasted Nights was the first song I ever learned. I was around 3 years old and remember singing that song when my Dad would take me to the local truck stop. Which was the only restaurant in town. Every time I hear his music I think about my Dad. My father and I got to see Freddy perform in Mississippi a few years ago. I noticed a bill board that said he was performing that weekend. I called my Dad & he drove in from Tampa, Florida and I drove in from New Orleans, Louisiana. I danced with my Dad and it will always be one of my favorite memories. God bless the family!! My heart goes out to each of you. Blessings!!!

Freddy's music is the first I can remember hearing as a child. My mother, father, and grandparents were fans before I was born. Though, I wasn't a fan to begin with, as I grew older, I began to very much enjoy the memories associated with the music. My family and I deeply regret his passing, and send our condolences to the family and memory of Mr. Fender.

As a little Cuban girl in NYC, it was wonderful to hear a Latino Cross Over to the American Radio Station. You have demonstrated that we are productive and positive people in a time that it was very new to other cultures. You have made us proud! May God Keep You in His Loving Arms, and Bless Your Family. Que Dios Te Bendiga!
With love, Eve.

I have always liked Freddy's music and while I was stationed in Germany he played at the NCO club and my wife and I got to meet him and hear him play. It was a real treat. May he rest in peace and I will keep him and his family in my prayers.

I have always been a fan, and play Freddy Fender music, and the Texas Tornados music in my Spanish class. I sing karaoke and one of my most requested songs is BEFORE THE NEXT TEARDROP... I feel as if I have lost a dear friend, though we never met. Rest in Peace, and tell Doug Sahm hello. Sing pretty for God, and all those who have gone before.

I have listen to the wonderful songs and music of Freddy since I was about 6 or 7 years of age. I had a dear friend named Jimmy, that got me hooked on him. See Jimmy was more than just a friend, he was like my brother. In the early to mid 80's, Jimmy was shot and died a few hours later. Listen to Freddy Fender songs make me feel as if he is still here with me. I am so sorry for the families loss, and he will be missed very much. My prayers go out to the families and close friends.

I'll Always remeber the gig we did together when we were touring in Frankfurt Germany. Sharing a dressing room with you turned out to be great fun and sharing the stage was even better. Vaya Con Dios Amigo.
