I am so sorry that it was Mr. Fender's time to leave us. I can rember listening with my mother and her best friend to all of his beautiful music. I am certain that his music is what infused me with a love of the Spanish language, and the Latin culture of Mexico and Mexican Americans. I will be very sad for a long time. Thankfully, all of my favorite songs are recorded, and I can listen any time I want! What a beautiful legacy to leave.
Without Freddy Fender to lead the way, Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz, and yes even, Los Lonely Boys, would have a very hard time of it today.

I had my own band for 11 years and opened for Freddy several times. Mark Tate and Chris Jurado both were in my band the Cockeyed cowboys. Freddy will be missed and it is a big loss for all.

My thoughts & prayers to the family. Its very hard to watch a loved one suffer but rest assured that he is now sleeping with the angels. And remember that GOD only takes the best and we are not promised a lifetime here on earth. My Uncle too was recently diagnosed with the same thing that took your beloved Freddy, so I know and I can only imagine what we still have to face in time. God Bless.
