Freddy Fender was not only the pride of San Benito, but of the entire Rio Grande Valley. His talent was incredible and will not be forgotten for many generations. Our family was saddened to hear the news and we wish to extend our sincerest sympathy to the entire Huerta family. Que Dios to bendiga, Freddy.

Sorry to hear of Freddy's loss, mo sentiments go to the family of Mr Fender. I remember him as child, my mother loved his music and thought he was great! She passed on back in March 1994. She was a Special Ed Teacher. BTW, my fiance' Carlos sends his condolences too. Thanks for the memories and great music. Gone, but not forgotten!

Whether you consider yourself Chicano, Hispano, Mexican, or Mexican-American is irrelevent-Freddy Fender was one of our own. I did not know his music that well, but growing up in South Texas if you didn't at least know who Freddy Fender was you were from a different planet. The name Freddy Fender is legendary. My heart goes of to his family and his fans. I am truly amazed that his influence extend way outside of the great state of Texas.
