Senor Fender,
You are dearly missed here en el Valle. You have touched so many family generations with your music. I remember as a kid listening to you in my dad's car and my dad almost always blowing the speakers everytime you were played because he had it turned up so loud. My father was obsessed with you to say the least. I have had a many of good nights with good friends all because you were playing on our speakers.
Vaya Con Dios my friend, Vaya Con Dios.

Freddy Fender was one of the first musicians I ever heard as a child. My father would break out his 8 tracks, and sing with me. I still have the original 8 track of my dad's. Freddy was a great singer, and his legend will continue to live on.

My deepest condolences go to the family of Freddy Fender. He was the greatest singer of all time. I grew up listening to his music and couldn't imagine country music being so great if not for Freddy Fender. His music goes on forever in our hearts. You are in our prayers.

WASTED DAYS AND WASTED NIGHTS
Freddy Fender
(1st Verse)
Wasted days and wasted nights,
I have left for you Behind
for you don't belong to me,
your heart belongs to someone else.
(2nd Verse)
Why should I keep loving you,
when I know that you're Not true?
And why should I call your name,
when you're to blame
for making me Blue?
(chorus)
Don't you remember the day,
that you went away and left me?
I was so lonely,
prayed for you only,
my love

My prayers are with the Huerta family in the passing of an outstanding performer and an exceptionally open and friendly, good-hearted man.
I had the opportunity to see him in El Paso and in Houston, twice,in the mid-70's.
He came out into the audience and shook our hands and told us how glad he was to be able to entertain us and to meet us. He was one of the "great ones" and will be truly missed by all his fans.
Via Con Dios, Freddy! I know you will be one of His special angels.
