Up from El Rio Bravo he came with guitar in hand to play. He sang his way into the hearts of Texans from the Valley to the Panhandle and beyond to countless fans in countless places. With crystal clarity his acappella-silver-tone voice moved with ease from el Ingles al Espaňol and back blending his Tejano spirit into the Anglo world of music. With remorse at his passing we say; adios Freddy Fender, mi amigo vaya con Dios for we know that from your heart, ?the last teardrop fell?.

Freddy,
Thank you for the music and memories. You will be missed. Wasted Days and Wasted Nights was the first song I sang to on the radio. It holds special memories for me. Maybe one day I will be able to meet you.
Until then,
Tammy

Close to 30 years ago I was staying with a friend in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. She had an albumn from Freddy and played it for me. I so loved his unique voice and style that I played the albumn over and over and over. As much as she loved to hear Freddy's voice, my friend wasn't so keen on listening to the albumn seemly for her, without end. I loved Freddy's music from that moment on and although I lost a friend over him I'd say it was more than a fair trade. I am deeply sadden by the news of Freddy's passing. When I moved from Canada over to Germany I took along only one suitcase. In that suitcase was all that was dear to me in the world. In amongst those treasured items was Freddy's albums. Such a sad day for us, such a joyous day for Heaven.

I was very saddened to hear of Freddy's passing. I remember meeting him when I was a little kid back in the 70's. He was friends with my dad back when they were children, my dad used to work beside him in the fields picking crops. After he made it big, he popped in one day at my house, and him and my dad caught up on old times, and spent the night getting all liquored up and singing old mexican songs. He was very nice to all of us kids too... even though the drunken singing kept us up most of the night..
Vaya Con Dios Baldemar !!

Freddy my condolences go out to your family. I was introduced to your music by my father and his friends in the 70'. I remember singing and dancing to "Rancho Grande". Later I understood the words to "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights", Before the Next Tear Drop Falls". Your music brought me joy and hope during tough times in my life. I had the honor of watching you in
concert in the late 90's. After the concert I was able to go up to the stage and shake your hand. I will pass your music to my children. Your body may not be with us today, but your heart and soul are. Thank you Freddy you will continue to live through your music.
