Freddie, it’s been three long years since you left this earth and joined our lord father and William “Big Billy†Lee Nance II in Heaven. I remember how you and Vangie made me feel comfortable about being around when I first met Lillian. I will always remember the times I spent with you and Vangie in your home. Like the time when we were looking through your telescope in your backyard at the moons crashing into Saturn, Very Cool. I still feel that I am still a part of the family. I will always take care of Lillian and Billy, so you don’t have to worry about them. We miss you very much. May God Bless you and the family.
Love always,
Your first daughter-in-laws husband,
Eric Cruz

My Dear Father In Law. Today is the anniversary of one of the saddest days in my life. You always were a dad to me. I looked to you for advice. You always had the best advice, like if you knew everything about life. We shared so many happy moments and painful ones, too. When we lost Billy, you were my strength, even though you were hurting, too. You always accepted me, William, Eric, and the kids as family. You are missed and loved by us all, and you will never be forgotten.
Love,
Lilli

Dad,
We miss you so much dad...me and the girls think of you all the time. Pictures just are not the same but they make us feel good being able to see you every day. However, I know you are up in heaven as one of Gods angels watching out for us. Since we moved out here its been really hard without Mom and Danny around but knowing you are no longer with us makes me even more sad. I am sure you have been keeping an eye on us and now know you have a new grandaughter. She is absolutely perfect and i will be sure to tell her that she has the best grandpa and grandma ever. She will know everything about you dad, and we will never forget you. We love you so much!

Words cannot describe the void in my life without you my father. I still can hear your laughter and hear your beautiful voice “singing†besides me. I miss you dad, as does your family and friends.
Farewell until now father; “I will see you in my dreams."
Your monument in San Benito is awesome!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Freddy and his son in Portland,OR while I was working at KWJJ radio. We spent about 3 days on a promotional venture and I never met a man I liked more. I will always have fond memories of some of our adventures and conversations. I remember asking him if he thought he was a better actor than a singer, this was shortly after "Milagro Bean Field Wars" was released....and he said "Anytime I can come home at four in the morning and my wife greets me at the door with a tortilla roller and I not only talk her into letting me in but fix me breakfast too, I must be a pretty good actor!"..........I really miss this guy.

My Dear Freddy,
God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes.
He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly.
When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You've left us precious memories, your love will be you family and frenids and fans guide.
You live on through your children, you're always by in there heats
It must have broke so many hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of them went with you on the day God called you home

Freddy, I listened to your records as a child. Your music is timeless, as is your legacy and fans. As an amateur musician, I can tell you first hand the joyful reaction when I sing "Wasted Days" or "Before the Next Teardrop Falls". I do it in honor of you. There will only be ONE Freddy Fender. You have inspired my music, and bring joy to countless people. Though we have lost you here, Heaven has gained you. I hope to be able to shake your hand in Heaven one day. That is my wish. God Bless, Freddy Fender!

Freddie lives forever. The first time ever heard of Freddie I was about 9 yrs old. In South Texas at my Aunts cafe in Three Rivers TX. The Antler Inn. I was in the back room and meeting or large group room with a pool table and juke box. 10 cents got me 3 songs. I think I put deep groves in Wasted days and wasted nights.
I was singing that song and playing pool when this big haired Spanish guy came in and asked if he could play a game with me. I said sure but I aint no good. And I kept on singing. Then this guy busted out singing with me and WOW could he sing. Dang it even sounded like the guy on the record.
We finished the game and he asked if I would go look out the window. There was a big motor home and his name on it.
Talk about being shocked. This guy said Yes, that is me you have been singing.
I am now 44 years old now. And I remember it like it was yesterday. He took me outside and went through the motor home and gave me a record he signed both the cover and the record.
I wore it out as a kid and good old mom stored it years later when I went into the Army. Well heat and weather trashed it. But I still have the memories of it all happening.
Freddie you are missed

I first bought your LP in 1770's and I played it every chance I got. I went to a friends house for a singles pool party and she begged me for the LP and I gave it to her. I ran into this lady in 1996 and she thanked me again for the LP. Freddy you made us LATINOS PROUD!!! WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU...

Dear Freddy -Aunque estas con El Buen Chuey, que esta en el cielo -quiero decirte que vives en mi corazon, para siempre. My favorite song is "Hey Baby Que Paso", from Texas Tornados -always makes me smile. I sincerely hope your wish to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame will someday be granted. My husband has requested "Sweet Summer's Day" be played at his funeral.
Much Love and Respect,
Julia Leal
