Freddie is one of my favorite country singers. What an awesome voice he had. So sorry I never got to see him in person. I know Heaven has a great new voice in its choir. God bless your family for sharing you with us all those years.

I have always loved your music and now we all miss you, Freddy!

Today marks the 8th year since you left us and join our Lord Savior in Heaven. I still watch any video I can find with you in it, I read all articles I can find about you. I haven't been able to find the one where God visited you, yet. You have left avoid in the music world that can't be filled. You had a golden voice that no one can duplicate or immatiate. My deepest regrets are there are no new music coming from you. However, you did manage to leave us a huge body of music that I am still collecting. For your family, I pray they are adjusting. I can only imagine their loss. For little Grasshopper and the other family members, if you have not seen the Sauve T.V. interview with Freddy, then please look it up. I look at it often when I want to laugh. His true personality comes across and you can't help but laugh. It's a great pick me up. Vaya con Dios, Freddy, RIP. Miss you. Gone but not forgotten!

I was born in '69. His music , his voice and beautiful lyrics gives me the warmest feeling, when I am happy or when I am sad. It feels like a warm blanket. I can feel his honesty. It is almost like he is a father to me. I love his music very much, from the beginning , since I was a little girl and I appreciate his music even more now, due my life experience. I feel very sad that he is no longer with us anymore. Gosh how I would have loved to join a concert of him. Sweet Freddy, rest in peace, God Bless You. Muchos besos. Your spirit will never die and you Always will be remembered. Your family must miss you very much. You are a great person. Thank you so much for your beautiful energie. I hope one day we will meet in heaven. Much love to the family xxx

Summer is not the same without seeing you at the fair concerts but you are still still with us and I play your records and watch yourmvideos and evenil saw the Texas tornadoes recently in Sacramento but they were missing something, someone...you! Just wanted to say happy belated birthday to Freddy Fender. I was a big fan growing up in New Jersey. Growing up in a north east coast city, i can't recall how came to be a fan but I was. I remember putting on a fake thick mustache at 12 years old to look like him while listening to the I'll Be There... Ran across is music recently online and downloaded my favorites again. I'm 51 now and feel like my tens listening to his sounds. Great performer.

Thank-you for this site. I LOVED Freddy Fender growing up and am beginning to listen to him all over again.

I was privileged to see Freddy perform at Duffers Irish Bar, Mission Viejo, CA on Saturday 25 July 1992. I have always thought that Charlie Rich's brother was in the band but it may have been his son. I kept shouting for "Via Con Dios" but he said that he had not rehearsed that number with his new band. He did sing my favourite "Rancho Grande" and, of course, "Before The Next Teardrop Falls".

After the show, his manager kindly agreed to introduce me and Freddy stepped out of his replacement bus (the original having broken down at Needles, CA, thus delaying the show), which was parked right at the back door, to chat for a few minutes and pose for pictures.

I asked him if he would ever play in Scotland and he mentioned that he had performed at the Peterborough International C&W Festival in England and said that he may play in Scotland "someday". Sadly, so far as I know, that day never arrived.
