I just heard this very sad news this morning. Deepest condonlences to Freddy's family and friends. I am very sad.I've loved Freddy ever since I "discovered" him in 1975 or so. My friend bought his album, "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights", and made the big mistake of bringing it over and playing it for me. I immediately fell in love and made her sell it to me! (I still have it)I met Freddy once in the 1980's after a performance at the Alameda County Fair,CA. and got his autograph and even a kiss! :)That will always be one of my favorite memories.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend, I will miss you.

My sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Fender. He was a big part of my growing up. I used to run a way as a youth and when id call home sad my father would play the song when the next teardrops fall. my father now has Alzheimers and he was my best friend but the song is still in my heart forever. thank you freddy fender for memories i will have forever.

i remember i first heard freddy fender's before the next teardrop falls and wasted days , at the caballo blanco rest . on franklin blvd. in sacramento ca.in those table juke boxes,those were the days freddy ruled the latin music world as well as the country music scene. i worked til 3 am on weekends went to school on week days, played my guitar every chance i had.i tell you i must have heard his songs at least 15 times a night at that rest, and i loved each time they played his songs . i played guitar with many friends ,like manuel avalos and los uniques,the sons of soul, popcorn,mg and the metallics,little cesear band , los ritmo 7 , , salt lick # 39 ,the snake river outlaws, sammy acuna and the mellomatics,i met merle haggard,mel tillis, and craig einhorn of ugene or , he plays with mason williams .. anyway i've never met anyone as nice as freddie fender was to me , he was totally down to earth and in my book i will always be his biggest fan in baker city oregon.peace to you freddy ,para siempre manny gutierrez

Dear family of Freddy,I knew Freddy when he stayed in a trailor in SLidell,but when his bus crashed on the I-10 that was a very tough day for everyone.I had know freinds back then and Freddy took me in like a baby and taught me a lot.I just want you to know he touched so many people through his music but he touched me through his heart. man ,it's so hard to accept the fact that we no longer will be able to see freddy fender in concert or knowing he has gone to that great stage in the sky.one door closes and another opens as i been told.in translation the stage here on earth has closed for freddy's shows,but heavens doors have opened for freddy forever. give em a good show freddy! manny gutierrez
